Born in Rome in 1945, Roberta Correnti attended the Artistic Lyceum in via Ripetta in Rome and obtained the diploma of art teacher. Those were the years around 1968: her art (sculpture, etching and lithography mostly) was greatly influenced by the material and spiritual turmoil and contestations. In those years she participated in a group called “Ferro di Cavallo” and worked for a long time in various restoration laboratories where she developed her taste for the antique. She continued to paint and organized her first solo show at Galleria Sula in Rome, followed by other exhibitions in other Italian towns. In 1976 Roberta Correnti exhibited her works in Palazzo Braschi, and in 1978 she held an exhibition in Perth, Australia. After this event, her first monograph was published, she received the Europa prize and in 1987, on the occasion of Women’s day, her paintings were shown in an exhibition entitled “Nuovo Eden” at Ostiglia’s Municipal Palace. In 1989 she participated with one of her pieces in an event organized by the FAO in Rome’s Museo Centrale del Risorgimento, on the occasion of the World Food Day. Other important exhibitions followed, in Rome and New York, between 1996 and 1997 for “Alitalia per l’Arte”, for which she also participated in the Umbria Jazz festival. Roberta Correnti lives and works in Formello, near Rome.
