Lino Tardia was born in Trapani in 1938. After studying arts in high school he didn’t accept the offer of teaching Painting in Palermo’s Artistic Lyceum and moved to Rome where he began his artistic career. In Rome he attended the studios of Renato Guttuso and Saro Mirabella. He began to exhibit his works in 1955, obtaining success in Italy and abroad. In the Sixties he moved from Realism to abstract and the onto “Nuova figurazione”, a new figurative style, in the way of Francis Bacon, whom he met during his stay in London. Lino Tardia participated in numerous collective exhibitions together with Guttuso, De Chirico, Sironi, Treccani and other internationally renown artists. His paintings were shown in London, New York, Chicago, Paris, Houston, Ottawa and Tripoli. Since 2001 he teaches painting at the RUFA (Rome University of Fine Arts). He has participated in many national and international contests. Lino Tardia lives and works in Rome.
