Enrico Benaglia was born in Rome in 1938. When he was still an adolescent, he attended Villa Medici, the Accademia di Francia in Rome and the studios of some of the most important artists of the 20th Century: Fazzini, Omiccioli, Gentilini, Montanarini. In the early 1970s he began to perform graphic suites and in 1978 he started his activity of scene designer for theatre and television. In recent years his has held many exhibitions, including those at Palazzo Rondanini in Rome (1990), Fiat Arte in viale Manzoni in Rome (1991) and other roman galleries. In 1997 the port and local authorities of Civitavecchia together with the Regional Council of Lazio organized at Fortezza Michelangelo an exhibition entitled “Gita al forte”. The following year local and artistic authorities in Abruzzo, including the National Museum of Abruzzo, dedicated to the painter the exhibition “Il salotto incantato” in L’Aquila’s castle. In 2000 Enrico Benaglia exhibited in Treviso, at the cultural centre “Le Venezie” the anthological exhibition “Stati di instabilità permanente”, and at the Galleria L’Indicatore the show “I quartieri dell’anima”. Other shows followed in Catania (2001), at the Vittoriano in Rome “Il giardino segreto” (2002) organised by Edarcom Europa and in Tallinn (2003). Between 2002 and 2003 an important piece by the same painter was displayed in Paris’ airport Charles De Gaulle in Alitalia’s sala Tiziano, and in 2003 he exhibited his paintings in the VIP lounge of Bruxelles’ airport. In 2004 his exhibition entitled “I quartieri dell’anima” was shown at Pescara’s Museo Comunale, at the VIP lounge of the JFK airport in New York, at the Complesso Museale di Santa Maria della Scala in Siena, at the Chamber of Commerce of Strasburg, and in Milan’s Galleria Senato. In 2005 he held exhibitions in Madrid, in the Italian Institute of Culture, and in Fondi’s castle.
