Mario Ferrante was born in Rome in 1957 and, while still a child, he moved to Brazil with his family. He began to study art and in particular drawing and painting in the study of an artist in Sao Paulo. In 1970 he moved back to Italy and, without cutting his link with Brazil where he went back frequently even for long stays, he lived in Benevento, where he attended the local artistic lyceum. After obtaining the diploma Mario Ferrante attended Naples’ Academy of Fine Arts, which he then abandoned to dedicate himself entirely to painting. He opened an art studio in Benevento where he taught painting. Very active even in sacred art, he painted altar pieces for many churches in Benevento. Since the mid Eighties he intensified the frequency of his shows, with exhibitions in Italy and abroad, and with the participation in national and international art contests. His paintings are part of numerous private and public collections. Mario Ferrante currently lives and works in Rome.
