Born in Rome in 1934, Franco Marzilli lives between Rome and Poggio Mirteto where he works as a painter and ceramist. He began his artistic work and his exhibitions in the early Sixties, always as an outsider with regards to current fashion and groups. Having began his study of ceramics as a youngster, Franco Marzilli then attended the “Scuola Preparatoria delle Arti Ornamentali”. Between the late Sixties and the early Seventies the artist exhibited his work first in New York, then in London and finally in Paris, where he stayed for a long time, studying and painting. Once he moved back to Italy, he concentrated his activity on bronze sculpture. Franco Marzilli died in Poggio Mirteto in 2010.
