Domenico Purificato

Domenico_Purificato

Domenico Purificato was born in Fondi in 1915. His artistic education began in the years preceding the Second World War within the Roman School, to which the painter dedicated a detailed essay entitled “I colori di Roma”. The formal origin of his representation is therefore close to that of painters such as Scipione, Mario Mafai and the early Guttuso. His intention was to re-live and amplify reality through emotions. Even when, after the war, Domenico Purificato got closer to social themes, his interpretation of the peasant and labour work was always linked to an intimate and lyrical vision of humanity. Purificato died in Milan in 1984.
