roberta correnti
Roberta Correnti was born in Rome in 1945. She attended the Via di Ripetta art school, where she perfected her artistic skills that from a very young age have privileged drawing and painting. In the years around 1968, her sensitive spirit responded dialectically to the romantic rebellious youth culture of the time. Later on, she became interested in sculpture, etching and lithography. Using the latter technique, the following years saw her produce several finely crafted works.

She formed part of the group Il Ferro di Cavallo (The Horseshoe), where she met artists and intellectuals such as Franz Borghese, Daniela Romano, Giorgio Fasan, Dario Bellezza, Roberto D’Ercole, Massimo Antoci and Alessandro Haber. At the same time, she worked in art restoration workshops, an experience that encouraged her to refine her interest in those classical painting techniques, which inevitably then influenced her work. This is characterized by continual reference to those timeless non-contemporary atmospheres that still distinguish her work. In 1965, she held her first solo exhibition at the Sula Gallery in Rome, and this was followed by many others in galleries and public venues in Italy and abroad, including Palazzo Braschi in Rome (1976), the Art Gallery of Western Australia in Perth (1978), the Municipal Palace of Ostiglia (1987), the Corvaja Palace in Taormina (1991), and the Alitalia Freccia Alata Room at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, as part of the Alitalia for Art project (1997). In 1998, her work was shown in a major group exhibition held jointly at Rocca Paolina Fortress in Perugia and the People’s Palace of Orvieto on the occasion of the Umbria Jazz Festival. Correnti lives and works in Formello.
