Giorgio Prati

giorgio prati
Giorgio Prati was born in Palermo, where he still lives and works. In his hometown he attended the Liceo Classico (high school focused on classical studies) and then enrolled in the Faculty of Law in Palermo. After obtaining his law degree, he decided to devote himself completely to painting. He moved to Rome where he attended the Accademia di Belle Arti, but his artistic training would gain a strong foundation mainly thanks to the many trips the artist made to major European cities. It was in Venice, Milan, Paris, Berlin and London that he met and studied the art of the great masters of color: Monet, Pissarro, Gauguin, Chagall and Turner left an indelible mark on his aesthetic.

His artistic language is shaped through the use of mixed techniques – egg tempera, oils, enamels and watercolors – and he pours on the canvas an expressive chromatism that, if in his youthful years focuses mainly on the dichotomy between black and white, in the period of maturity become more vivid, vibrant and luminous.

Over the years he exhibited in Italy and abroad. Many critical and cultural figures have taken an interest in his work.
